Two arrested for UP College student’s murder

Varanasi: The Shivpur police, on Sunday, arrested two for killing of BCom student Vivek Singh at Uday Pratap College on the night of February 24.

Producing the arrested persons before reporters, SSP Anand Kulkarni said that acting on a tip-off, the Shivpur police raided Tarna area where Abhishek Mishra and his accomplice Himanshu Tiwari were arrested with a pistol and live cartridges.


During initial interrogation, Abhishek divulged that Vivek had thrashed student leader Anupam Nagvanshi over a dispute between Anupam and one Sarvesh Singh in 2017. Following this, Anupam and his friend Atul Singh had opened fire on Sarvesh for which they were arrested and sent to jail. Sarvesh survived the attack but Anupam decided to kill Vivek.


Abhished further said that on February 24, Anupam had given pistols to him, Sunil and Shubham after which they attacked Vivek and killed him. Kulkarni said that the police teams had intensified efforts to nab Anupam, other shooters and their accomplices involved in the killing.
