Noida: On way to collect evidence, constable dies in car crash

GREATER NOIDA: A 29-year-old constable deployed at Greater Noida police station died in a car crash on Saturday night in Meerut. He had allegedly gone there for an evidence collection.
The deceased, identified as Ankur Saini, was a native of Luhsana village in Muzaffarnagar district of UP. He was a 2011-batch pass out from Provincial Police Services of UP and was currently deployed at Greater Noida police station as a constable.

The incident took place around 10.45 pm when Ankur’s Alto rammed into a stationary truck near a petrol pump in Gotka village at Shamli.


According to police, the constable was working on a case of a dreaded criminal, in connection to which he had left Greater Noida on Saturday night. “We received information from the Meerut police about the accident. Ankur left Greater Noida at around 8.30 pm to reach Meerut. However, midway the accident occurred. He was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead,” said Sujeet Upadhyay, SHO of Greater Noida police station.


“A case has been registered against the truck driver, identified as Sukhdev, a native of Ludhiana, under Section 304A (death by negligence) of the IPC. Our team in Meerut are conducting further investigation in the case,” Upadhyay said.


Ankur’s last rites were performed on Sunday in his native village in Muzaffarpur.
