Chandigarh: Conman dupes waiter of cash at bank

CHANDIGARH: A waiter at a beer bar in Sector 26 lost Rs 46,500 to a trickster at a bank in Sector 26 on Friday.
Arjun Singh had gone to the branch of Punjab National Bank to deposit the cash. Arjun said a person offered to help him up his deposit slip. Arjun said he asked him to bring a new form as he committed a mistake while filling it. When he returned, he found the cash he had left on table missing and the man missing. He raised the alarm and tried to search for the accused but to no avail.
Police registered a case against under Section 380 (punishment for theft) of the IPC and started investigation. Police said they are checking CCTV footage. Police suspect a gang of cheaters is active near banks and they target illiterate persons on the pretext of helping them.
