Annadatha Sukhibhava scheme to lure farmers, say JSP, Left parties

Leaders of the Left parties and the Jana Sena (JSP), who were demanding investment support for tenant farmers under the Annadatha Sukhibava scheme, were detained on Saturday.

After a meeting with tenant farmers at the MB Vignana Kendram, CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna, CPI(M) State committee member V. Srinivasa Rao, JSP leader Ch. Parthasarathi, AP Agriculture Workers Union leafer D. Subba Rao, Tenant farmers’ association president N. Ranga Rao and others of various organisations took out the ‘Chalo Amaravati’ rally before being arrested. The parties in a joint statement condemned the arrests and demanded ₹25,000 under the scheme, implementation of Land Lease Cultivators Act, waiver of loans, input subsidy and others for 32 lakh tenant farmers.

Mr. Rao said the CPI, the CPI(M), the JSP and other organisations would continue to fight for tenant farmers.
