Gurugram: Air better, light rain and fog likely today

GURUGRAM: More rainfall and brisk winds are expected in the city on Monday due to the arrival of a fresh western disturbance (WD) in the region.
This will be followed by a spell of fog and decreased visibility. Additionally, temperature is expected to fall, according to officials.

Officials at the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) said a fresh WD is likely to cause more rains on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

They added that mercury is likely to come down later this week due to continuation of north-westerly winds.

Some parts of the city received light to moderate rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. A senior official from RWFC said, “We are expecting light rains, thunderstorms and brisk winds of about 40-50 kmph.”

The officials said shallow to moderate fog is also likely from Monday. “The foggy conditions may prevail during mornings, when visibility is expected to drop to 500m.

However, conditions should improve later in the day, an official said, adding, “On Tuesday, we’ll see pretty strong winds that will blow across the surface.”

The minimum temperature in Gurugram had come down to 11°C, officials said. As perk IMD, due to the resumption of north-western winds, we are expecting colder conditions, which might lead to further drop in temperatures.

The minimum temperatures is likely drop to 9°C on March 6. “When a fresh WD arrives, it creates a flow of easterly winds that bring in warmer air. But when it departs, north-westerly winds from the Himalayas rush in, resulting in cooler temperatures,” explained an official.

The city’s air quality improved on Sunday. AQI was recorded at 78 (‘satisfactory’) on Sunday, while it was in the moderate range on Saturday. On Sunday, the maximum temperature rose to 22°C.
