Ludhiana: A fight over water overflowing from a house on to a street almost turned fatal for a villager as several persons at Deh Kalan village first allegedly thrashed him and even pointed a gun at him later.
Hathoor police have meanwhile booked Rajwinder Singh, his brother Diljot Singh and father Buta Singh, all of Deh Kalan, and three other unidentified accused for allegedly assaulting Satnam Singh.

In his complaint with the police, Satnam Singh, who works at a car company, said he along with friend was going for work in Jagraon at 8.45am when the accused surrounded them near the house of panchayat member Sukhdev Singh.

Satnam alleged that Rajwinder had a pistol whereas Diljot Singh, Buta Singh and three unidentified accused were carrying rods. He added that the accused beat him up and Rajwinder pointed a pistol, threatening to kill him.

Satnam said after the incident, the accused fled the spot after which he was taken to civil hospital. Later, he informed police. He added that the accused had a fight two days ago over water in the street.

Hathoor police have started a probe in the matter.

Police have booked the accused under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of Arms Act.

ASI Manohar Lal, investigating officer, said the accused are on the run. He said Satnam and Rajwinder’s family are next door neighbours who were engaged in a fight over water flowing on to the street.
