Police are investigating a shooting that left a man in hospital on Saturday night in Canberra's south.

About 10pm, police were called to reports of shots fired near Freda Gibson Circuit in Theodore.

Arriving at the scene, they learnt a man with a gunshot wound had sought help nearby.

The man was treated and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not provide further detail when contacted on Sunday morning but are urging anyone with information, footage or who saw anything suspicious in Theodore or Calwell between 9.45 and 10pm on Saturday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
