A 64-year-old man, who was standing outside his house in Dobbspet, was electrocuted after a car rammed into an electric poll on Friday.
The deceased, Ramakrishna, who was standing near the gate of his residence, died on spot.
“The pole was linked to domestic and high voltage electric lines, which came in contact with each other after the accident. It grounded the entire area,” said a police officer. The house that got short circuited was barely 400 metres away from Mr. Ramakrishna’s house. On seeing her husband in trouble, Revamma, 55, ran out to help him. She too sustained severe injuries on her right hand. Their son Umesh Kumar, a constable, works as a gunman for Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
The driver abandoned the car and fled.
