BMX riders found copper wire strung at head height between two trees that could easily have decapitated unsuspecting riders.
A group of riders including Ben Feltell, 20, discovered two head-height traps on 4x4 tracks at Coomera in the Gold Coast.
Mr Feltell issued a warning to dirt bikers and quad bikers who use the track on Facebook on Sunday.

The wires could decapitate unsuspecting riders if they're driving fast enough. A warning to dirt and quad bikers was posted to Facebook
'Copper wire has been set up across Coomera 4x4 tracks at head height obviously trying to get riders,' Mr Feltell said.
'Be careful around these areas.'
Mr Feltell and his group took down the traps and posted their locations to warn riders.
Queensland Police were not able to comment because the incident has not been reported.

Queensland dirt biker Ben Bird was jerked off his bike by the neck from a metal wire strung across a track last month.
'Almost had my last ride this afternoon thanks to whoever put this up along the road!' he wrote on Facebook.
Mr Bird was left with neck grazes and says he only avoided decapitation because he was riding slowly.
