‘Parrikar’s health condition stable’

PANAJI: The ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s health condition is stable, his office informed, after he underwent a medical check-up at the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, on Sunday morning.

“Parrikar was taken to the GMC in the morning for a regular check-up, and was later allowed to go home. His health condition is stable,” an official from the Chief Minister’s office said.

Nearly a week back, Parrikar was discharged from the GMC, three days after he was admitted in the hospital  apparently for internal bleeding, with gastrointestinal endoscopy recommended by the doctors.

Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai said that he enquired about Parrikar›s health with one of his close relatives over  a phone, and added that he was informed that “the Chief Minister is doing well.”

«I have sought an appointment with the Chief Minister, and I am going to meet him tomorrow to first thank him for the financial clearance given by him for acquiring  the land for kabrastan,» Sardesai said and added that he will now get the work order for kabrastan project sanctioned.

The Town and Country Planning Minister said that “in spite of suffering from cancer, which is an advanced stage, the Chief Minister has continued to work for the people.”

«We are also pushing to work and fulfilling the commitments that were made to the constituency and the state,» he added.

Sardesai said that cancer is such a disease that it can not only kill the dreams of an individual but also the dreams of a state.

«We tied up with him (Parrikar), and no aspect of political calculation we could ever imagine that he would get cancer. So, it could have killed our dreams but God is great in giving him the strength to carry on with the good work,» he concluded.
