Serula communidade panel elected

PORVORIM: The Peter Martin panel swept the Serula communidade election which was held on Sunday at the Azad Bhavan as per High Court directives.

The government imposed Section 144 near the venue were the election was held at Azad Bhavan, Porvorim. No one was allowed to carry their mobiles into the venue and there was a strong pose of police personnel present. The election process was videographed.

The election process was a continuation of the disrupted election held on January 27 out of which 575 voters were present. However at the election held on Sunday only 375 voters were present fearing fights.

The results for the substitute president was declared in which Joseph Pinto belonging to the Peter Matins panel won, later the election for attorney, his substitute and treasurer were held and results were declared.

There was also objection raised not to hold the elections as some gauncars wanted it by secret ballot. Objection to Peter Matins was declared null and void by the returning officer.

The elected panel are Alex Dsouza (president), Joseph Pinto (substitute president), Peter Matins (attorney), Govindraj Shet Tanawade (substitute attorney), Purushottam Shirodkar (treasurer) and Diniosio Trinidade (substitute treasurer) were elected defeating the Lobo’s panel.
