'Pure arrogance': Mercedes man driving with a 'young passenger' is slammed for dangerously cutting across a busy intersection

  • A man was caught on video performing a dangerous turn across an intersection
  • Ian Barber saw the potentially dangerous situation unfold and was furious
  • He claims he also saw a young passenger sitting alongside the driver

A man who was seen dangerously cutting across a busy intersection in his Mercedes while reportedly driving with a young passenger has been called out for being 'arrogant'.

Dashcam footage taken on Sunday shows the driver performing an illegal right hand turn from a left-turning lane and merging into oncoming traffic on the Gold Coast.

Ian Barber, who was stopped at the light, saw the potentially dangerous situation unfold.

He told the Gold Coast Bulletin he thought it was 'disgraceful to see someone do that. Just pure arrogance.'

'I saw the car coming from the left side, I thought that was strange, then saw him just drive through the traffic,' he said.

'There was still traffic coming from the left … he just merged into traffic. I find it wrong and very dangerous.

Mr Barber said the man was lucky he didn't cause a serious car accident.

He caught up with the driver moments later at the next set of lights, and claims he saw a 'young passenger' sitting in the car alongside the man.

'Typical Mercedes driver,' one social media user wrote online upon seeing the footage.

No complaints have been filed with police.
