MANGALURU: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda lambasting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said the latter has lost the credibility in the nation.
Gowda told reporters here on Sunday that none of the promises he made to the country has been fulfilled. He also lashed at BJP for politicizing recent airstrike against terrorists.
“Wherever Modi goes, he speaks about the strongest nation. He wants to say that he is the strongest leader. He speaks about clean politics, corruption-free nation, and Congress-free India. Didn’t Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh give stable governments? People will not trust a leader who keeps on speaking the same.
People in India are enlightened. He speaks about patriotism. All of us are patriotic and we stand united when it comes to our nation's security. Modi always pats his own back. Didn’t we win Kargil war when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister? Didn’t India hold a nuclear test in Pokhran? Now, not only India but also the entire world has decided to fight terrorism. Issues of national security should not be politicized. We need not learn patriotism from Modi,”
Further, he accused Modi of unrest in Kashmir. “I had visited Kashmir five times when I was Prime Minister and I successfully conducted elections. Modi visited Kashmir during Deepavali, but what happened thereafter? Different parties ruled Kashmir. People have seen fights on streets and clamping of Section 144 in the past three years. Recently, 44 brave Indian soldiers were martyred for the nation. There is a need for a non-NDA alliance in the nation in this circumstance,” Gowda charged.
They called demonetization a ‘dream of Modi’, but what happened thereafter? Could they bring black money back, Gowda questioned.
