Tatas announce further investment to develop Steel City
B Sridhar | TNN | Mar 4, 2019, 05:06 ISTJamshedpur: With an aim to take the century-old industrial town to a new height, the Tatas announced further investment to improve the quality of life of the denizens and turn it into a smart cosmopolitan town within the next one decade.
Speaking on the occasion to mark Tata Steel founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata’s 180th birth anniversary, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said, “We will make Jamshedpur city modern and smart in the next one decade.”
He also said the city holds a special place in the global corporate’s heart. He added that the Steel City was planned long before no one was aware of the smart city concept.
Congratulating the people on the industrial city’s completion of 100 years, Chandrasekaran said, “Support and cooperation of the communities living here has been incredible to the cause of sustainable growth and development of the city all through.”
He further said Tata Steel has done well in the last one century and is looking forward to continue its success in the coming decades. “Tata Motors is a flagship company of Tata Sons and it is a successful company and will do better in the coming years,” he replied when asked by reporters whether there are any plans to stop production of Tata Nano cars, manufactured by Tata Motors.
