CHANDIGARH: Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday accused the Haryana government of discriminating and ignoring the Mewat region.
Addressing the ‘Parivartan Rally’ at Punhana Anaj Mandi in Mewat on Sunday, Surjewala called upon the people to vote out the BJP governments from the Centre and the state. Thousands of people attended the rally, which was organised by local Congress leader Ibrahim Engineer.

Surjewala said that the people elected governments of State and the Centre for five years, but, they have disappointed the people with their non-performance and utter failure to keep up the poll promises.

Accusing the government of step-motherly treatment towards the Mewat reagion, Surjewala said many projects were initiated by the previous Congress government for the development of the region. He particularly mentioned Rajiv Gandhi Rainy Well Project and IMT Mewat, which were started during his tenure as minister of the concerned department.

Announcing a road map for the development of Mewat, Surjewala announced that Congress Party would ensure resumption of those projects and establish a university in Mewat if it comes to power.

"We will request Maruti to set up a factory at IMT Mewat. Gurgaon-Alwar rail line will be started once the Congress government takes over at the Centre," Surjewala added.

Surjewala accused the BJP of spearheading the divisive politics of mutual hatred on caste, region and religious lines.

Rather than taking the country forward, PM Modi and CM Khattar were trying to divide the society for their ulterior political objectives, he further added.

Accusing the INLD and JJP of being supporters of BJP, Surjewala said that both INLD and Dushyant Chautala had supported BJP. He reminded the people that Dushyant, INLD MPs and MLAs voted for BJP candidates in various elections.
