TSPC rebels nabbed in Chatra

Ranchi: State police and CRPF nabbed Tritya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) sub-zonal commander Kabir Ganjhu and one of his accomplices during a joint operation at Bongagadha village under Tandwa police station area in Chatra on Friday. Kabir was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

Police seized a large cache of arms and ammunitions, including two self-loading rifles, an AK-47, an AK-56, three US Springfield semi-automatic rifles, around 1,051 cartridges, seven ammunition pouches, nine magazines and several chargers from the possession of the rebels.


Chatra SP Akhilesh B Verior said police received a tip off on Kabir’s presence in Bongagadha. “A team was sent to the area to verify the information and take necessary action. They arrested the TSPC sub-zonal commander along with his accomplice, Gendlal Ganjhu, after a chase,” the SP said.


Police said Kabir had become a synonym of terror in Simaria, Tandwa, Lawalong and Pathalgada areas of Chatra district and Barkagoan, Keredari, Katkamdaag and Katkamsandi areas of Hazaribag district. He is known to be close to TSPC regional commander Kohram, alias Lakshman Ganjhu, and was looking after the operations of the banned outfit in the region.


Police said altogether 30 cases related to murder, kidnapping, loot, extortion, attack on police party and pasting extremists-related posters were registered against Kabir with various police stations of Hazaribag and Chatra districts. A case has also been registered against him with Tandwa police station under various sections of the Arms Act and Criminal Law Amendment Act for illegally possessing arms and ammunitions.
