BHOPAL: Instead of leading from the front, the political leaders here have passed the buck to residents to launch campaign against creation of Kolar Municipality. Politicians here are asking to raise objection and file complaint first and then they would do the follow-up. Politicians have even suggested for signature campaign and also raking up the issue on social media platform like WhatsApp.
People are looking at their political representatives, however they in turn have turned their back and are not ready to take up the resentment of the residents to the concerned authorities and the government. Not happy with the proposed separation from Bhopal Municipal Corporation, the residents of Kolar have expressed their resentment over creating a separate new municipal entity.
Rameshwar Sharma, BJP MLA
“If people protest, let them file complaints with collectorate first as they have right. And if there are 25,000 or 30000 complaints and objections it would definitely mean that people are not in favour of formation of municipality. They should also launch signature campaign and whatsapp campaign on it. After it we will decide.”
Bhagwandas Sabnani, BJP leader
“If local residents want me to lead, I will definitely do it. Right now I am outstation for Kumbh. I will talk at party forum and local resident first and then definitely will lead. I had taken out a foot-march in Kolar for right and justice of residence. Even today, I am with people and will ensure no injustice is done with them.”
Sunil Kumar Mishra
“ There are lots of benefits while remaining in BMC and creation of separate Municipality we will devoid people of all the gains. But no politician is coming forward to take lead from front to lead the campaign. We people are helpless. We do not want formation of Kolar Municipality as it is like taking a back-step. We should move forward for better growth.”
Aditya Kumar, MBA student
“There are many big projects which are implemented by Municipal Corporation level. So politicians are supposed to protest the government decision for formation of Kolar Municipality. We have to protest untidily so and for that political backup is necessary to raise the issue effectively otherwise, our purpose will not be served.”
Anjana Mishra, Bimakunj
“The way politicians are supporting the formation of Kolar Municipality, it looks that they are feathers of same bird. They are accessing and valuating their own political benefits as corporators will be more from five to 50. Besides, they have their business interest too. They are least bother about mass interest.”
Avnish Bharagava, DCC chief (rural)
“We will deal with government for better package so people should not be demoralized and confused. It is government decision for all round development. Even with merger with BMC, most of pockets of Kolar region, are still undeveloped so government has taken decision for formation of municipality.”
