Warns officials against sitting on complaints

Prohibition and Excise Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena on Friday asked department officials to remain alert as the election notification was likely to be released any time.

Addressing a review meeting at the Excise Commissionerate at Prasadampadu, Mr. Meena said to discharge their duties effectively, and officers and staff should make good use of the latest technology incorporated in the day-to-day functioning of the department.

A district-level control room should work round the clock and an official must be present there all the time. He wanted the staff to handle with a great sense of responsibility the excise-related public complaints received by the department. He said if a complaint was not solved within 48 hours, the Deputy Commissioner concerned would be held responsible.

Enforcement Director Harikumar said a special officer would be appointed at the State level to exclusively handle election-related complaints while the entire staff must keep themselves available for any emergency situation. He said anybody could lodge a complaint with the department on unauthorised sale of liquor or any other violation either in writing, or through e-mail, by calling the toll-free number, by using mobile app, through the web page or by post.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners and Excise Superintendents of various districts.From the Enforcement wing, Additional Commissioner K.L. Bhaskar and Joint Commissioner Chandrasekhar Naidu werepresent.
