Chandigarh: 19-yr-old arrested on sodomy charges

CHANDIGARH: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly sodomizing a 5-year-old boy at Dhanas on Friday. The police said the accused was student of BA (II year) and was produced before the local court which sent him to judicial custody.

The accused is a resident of Dhanas. The police said the parents of the boy alleged that the accused sodomized their son around two days ago.

In their complaint to the police, the parents of the boy reported that the accused lived in the same area and took their son to an isolated place and allegedly committed the crime on Thursday.

The parents of the boy reported to the police that the behaviour of their child was different and when they asked him the reason behind his changed behaviour, he narrated the whole incident to them and named the accused.

The boy’s parents reported the matter to the police.

The police took the boy to a government hospital and got his medical examination done.

They further registered a case under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).


Later, the police arrested the accused from near his home on Friday.


The police said the accused was a second year student of graduation at a government college in the city. The police produced him before the local court which sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.


On January 10, a resident of Mauli Jagran was arrested for sodomizing a 14-year-old boy in the forst area. The accused in the jail since the registration of the case.
