TNN | Mar 2, 2019, 07:17 ISTLudhiana: Police have booked a farmer for thrashing and raping his former live-in partner.
The 35-year-old woman said in her police complaint, “The accused, 42, lived near my in-laws house. My in-laws used to harass me and the accused knew about my sufferings. After I separated from my husband last year, the accused and I became good friends. After some days, he moved in to my house. When we started living together, I found he was a hard drinker. He would thrash me in an inebriated condition. Fed up of his habits, I parted ways with him in December last.”
On Thursday evening, the accused barged into her rented accommodation. “He was drunk. After heated arguments, he thrashed and raped me. As I resisted and fought back, he went out of the room to bring a stick to beat me up. I quickly locked the door from inside and called up the police,” she added.
The accused had fled by the time police reached the spot.
Investigating officer ASI Sulakhan Singh said, “A case has been registered under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC. The man is yet to be arrested.”
