L.A’.s Finest showrunner Brandon Sonnier was left severely injured after a terrifying chain reaction accident on set.

The accident took place last Thursday when Sonnier, who serves as both co-showrunner and executive producer of the upcoming crime drama series starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union, was on set in San Pedro, California, with fellow executive producer and co-showrunner Brandon Margolis, Deadline reports.

Both Sonnier and Margolis were in the video village area watching a car scene when a stunt vehicle rammed into a cargo crate, which then slammed into the video village, Deadline reported.

The outlet reports that Sonnier’s leg was pinned in the crash. Following the crash, Sonnier and Margolis were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Margolis was released shortly after, but Sonnier’s injuries were so severe doctors opted to remove his leg — just below the knee.

At this time, Sonnier is still in the hospital, Deadline reported.

California’s Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) has opened an investigation into the incident, according to the outlet.

After the accident, production was shut down and filming the following day was canceled.

“Our hearts go out to our SPT family members who were injured and we pray for a full recovery,” Sony Pictures Television Jeff Frost and co-Presidents Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter told Deadline.
