On Thursday, the Cuffe Parade police have booked three persons for alleged suicide of a 33-year-old woman at her home.
According to Indian Express, the three booked include the woman’s husband, who employed in the Navy, his father and a woman with whom the husband had an illicit relationship. The woman has two kids a 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son. A suicide note was left behind by the woman in which she alleged that her husband was in a relationship with the wife of a fellow naval employee and there were constant arguments at home due to this.
The incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The woman hanged herself from ceiling fan where her two children were sleeping. The family lived in a 2BHK flat. On Wednesday, around 6.45 am when the daughter woke up she found her mother hanging from the ceiling fan and immediately informed her father. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead before arrival.
The police initially registered a case of accidental death report, but during the investigation they found the suicide note in which they also learned that the husband used to beat the woman and children. Later when brother, of the deceased, came to Mumbai from Haryana, he lodged a police complaint, acting on which the cops then booked the three under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
