2002 V8-Powered Mercedes G500 Might End Up Being A Bargain

If you’ve been waiting for the chance to own a luxury SUV that won’t cost you a fortune, then you might want to direct your attention to this 2002 V8-powered Mercedes G500.

It’s being auctioned off on Bring a Trailer and despite the odometer reading 110,000 miles (177,000 km), the SUV appears to be in decent shape, having been serviced recently. It also comes with a clean Carfax report and a clean Florida title, in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in Midnight Blue and comes with a factory chrome grille, sidesteps, tinted windows and a rear-mounted stainless steel spare tire carrier. As for the split-spoke wheels, they measure 18-inches in diameter and are wrapped in Michelin Latitude Tour tires.

Inside, there’s grey leather upholstery, plus walnut trim on the steering wheel, center console, shift knob and door panels. Features include the power and heated front seats (with memory function), heated rear seats, the COMAND infotainment system with CD changer and more. The car even comes with illuminated stainless steel door sills, velour floor mats and an electric sunroof, which were optional extras.

The G500 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with Touch Shift. Mind you, that’s a naturally aspirated engine, thus it puts out 292 PS (288 HP) and 336 lb-ft (456 Nm) of torque.

At the time of writing, the highest bid was $15,000. However, with six days remaining until the auction ends, we expect the price to rise. Even so, given its unique traits and popularity, could it end up being a bargain? We’ll definitely keep an eye on the bidding, and let you know.
