Haryana: Student dies in freak accident in Ambala

AMBALA: A Bachelors of Commerce (BCom) second-year student died on the spot in Gandhi Memorial National (GMN) College, Ambala Cantonment after he was hit by a flying discus (metal disc) thrown by some athlete in the college ground. As per information, a sports meet was being conducted at GMN College.
The deceased has been identified as Love Gupta (21), a resident of Preet Colony, Jandali, Ambala City.
On the complaint of Love’s uncle Pradeep Kumar, the district police have registered a case under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ambala Cantonment police station.
However, following the student’s death, the college administration has cancelled the sports meet.
TOI tried to reach the college administration and despite repeated calls, they remained incommunicado.
Ambala Cantonment SHO, inspector Suresh Kumar said, “We have registered a case of death by negligence and allegations would be probed as per the facts. The post-mortem and the last rites of the deceased have been conducted.”
