New playground in Fyshwick is 'a little town for little folk'
Looking for a new place to take your little one?
Ladybird Play in Fyshwick is a mini-town that lets kids role play to their heart's desire.
It's the brainchild of Michelle Templin and Colleen Cooper, who originally started a business selling their own homemade play pieces using recycled pallets.
They decided to go one step further and create Ladybird Play, a mini-town that is "all about fostering imaginative, pretend role play". All the structures were created and built by the pair themselves.
There's a cafe, police station, supermarket, petrol station, fire house, hospital, hair and beauty salon and also homes in the "Ladybird Estate". There are also costumes for dress-ups.
The centre, which opened in February, includes a cafe and on Friday afternoons, offers parents and carers a chance to wind down with a glass of wine or champagne.
Michelle said the target age group was one to seven-year-olds.
"It's been great. There's nothing like it really," she said, of reaction to the centre.
"It's all role-playing and imagination and not just running around. We've had nothing but great feedback, which is awesome. It's going really well."
Ladybird Play is at Unit 10, 155 Gladstone Street, Fyshwick.
