Chief Minister Vijay Rupani's health deteriorated suddenly on Friday morning, while he was on his way to attend inauguration of Bhavnath Shivratri fair in Junagadh. He complained of abdominal pain, and experienced vomiting while in Gandhinagar on Thursday, but had left for Rajkot already, though he had a fever. However, he could not attend any public function on Friday.
Doctors, who had examined him at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, prescribed rest to help him recover from his intestinal infection. However, he left for Rajkot to receive Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. From there, both leaders left for Junagadh.
But Rupani's health took a turn for the worse and he was rushed to Ahmedabad on a special flight. He was taken to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and a team led by Dr RK Patel and Dr Manoj Ghoda has started treating him. Sources say the infection has caused swelling in his intestine, but doctors say his health is stable. He has been advised a day or two of rest, and all his public engagements stand cancelled.
This included a programme in Gandhinagar in which he would distribute government aide to the OBC community. He was also expected at a slew of religious programmes in Junagadh in relation to the Shivratri fair.
