Indore: Two more deaths by the deadly swine flu disease created choas like situation among district health department officials. The two deceased include a 6-year-old girl while report of a 61-year-old-male patient, who died on February 25, tested positive on Friday.
With reports of these swine flu deaths, the toll mounted to 20 on Friday. Meanwhile, number of H1N1 positive cases this year reached 53 in the city, in two months. Many patients are undergoing treatment in local hospitals while reports of 57 patients are awaited.
The increasing number of deaths has put officials of health department on their toes as they are clueless about steps to be taken to control spread of disease.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Pravin Jadia said, “We are making efforts to control the disease but people are ignoring it and reaching hospitals late for treatment.” The patients who succumbed to the disease on Sunday was a 6-year old girl of Dhar district who was admitted to MY Hospital.
He said children, older people, pregnant women and people suffering from other major diseases are prone to the disease and should take extra care. Dr Jadia said hospitals have been told to report cases of cough and cold and to take follow up of patients.
