The Maharashtra government on Saturday made it clear officially that a Rs 3 lakh crore oil refinery project will not come up at Nanar in the coastal Ratnagiri district. Industries Minister Subhash Desai announced that the project will not come up even after elections.
Desai, however, also said that if any local population from any other district was willing to support the project, Sena would support it. The decision strengthens ties between BJP and Sena, who have always been at loggerheads over this project.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, while announcing an alliance between the two parties a week ago, had announced that the project would be shifted.
While one alliance was taking shape in Maharashtra for the upcoming polls, a second 'almost-about-to-happen' alliance did not see the light of the day in the national capital.
Ending months of speculation regarding an alliance with the Congress for the upcoming general elections, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday declared its candidates for Lok Sabha six seats in Delhi and accused the grand old party of turning down its proposal for a tie-up.
While announcing the names of party candidates in the six seats, Delhi AAP convener Gopal Rai, however, hinted that a window was still open for firming up an alliance as the party believed that there should be single opposition candidate against the BJP in every seat for the upcoming polls.
AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the party's seventh candidate will be announced soon. (With PTI inputs)
