Mumbai: cs unbeaten 80 runs enabled Mumbai Police Gymkhana clinch the title in the inaugural Ajit Ghosh Memorial Women’s T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sporting Union Club in association with Kalyandas Memorial Sports Foundation. At the Shivaji Park Gymkhana, opener Ruchita’s 64-ball knock was studded with nine boundaries, she along with Sarika Koli put on 112 runs for the opening wicket, as they set with 166 for one. Sarika was unlucky to miss out of half-century but her 38-ball 46 was a classy innings. Kamath Memorial CC choked their run chase as they could manage 128 for five.
Losing two early wickets with just 14 runs on the board Kamath Memorial did make a comeback. There was some resistence from Tanisha Gaikwad (37) and Kajal Upadhyaya (48) who together added 71 for the third wicket. Thereafter it was going became tough for them. Kritika Krishnakumar was named the player of the tournament for her consistent batting performances while her team mate Vaibhavi Raja bagged the best batter award. Cricket administrator Arman Malik and former test cricketer Vrinda Bhagat were the guests of honour who were guests gave away the prizes.

Wadala Spikers got the better of Chembur YMCA in three well-contested sets 2-1, in the men’s open quarter-final of the 64th Bombay Callan Cup volleyball tournament, at the YMCA Abdul Rehman playground, Jhulla Maidan, Agripada, Mumbai Central.
In a closely fought match, Wadala Spikers went on to register a 25-23, 25-27, 15-6, win over Chembur YMCA. Ther was some joy for the YMCA spikers as their Bombay YMCA teams comfortably progressed to the semi-finals. YMCA ‘A’ defeated Jhunjhunwalla College 25-18, 25-16 and the YMCA ‘B’ outfit got the better of Parle Boys 24-23, 25-16. Navroze Baug stromed to a fluent straight sets win against Hoopers SC coasting to a 25-19, 25-21 victory.

CNFF down Steadfast
Chheda Nagar Football Fanatics (CNFF) romped home with a 3-2 win over Steadfast SC in an exciting and well-contested First Division play-off match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra. In another match, Kenkre FC got the better of Mumbai Strikers 2-1 in an Elite Division match.
