Greater Noida: A 25-year-old man died while two others got injured after a Wagon R car they were travelling in crashed into a divider and then overturned on the Yamuna Expressway near zero point in Kasna on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sunny, a native of Prahladpur Bangar area in Delhi. Police said he worked as a sales agent in an automobile store. The two other injured persons have been identified as Sohan and Jai Shankar Sahu who also belong to Delhi and work as medical representatives in a Delhi-based firm.

The accident occurred around 8 am on Friday when the three friends were apparently returning from Allahabad after attending a wedding. Police said while Sohan was driving the car, Jai was sitting next to him and Sunny was sleeping on the rear seat when it overturned.

“We received the information of the accident around 8.15 am. A police team soon reached the spot and rushed the injured to Yatharth Hospital in Kasna where Sunny was declared dead on arrival while the other two were discharged after giving first aid,” said Ramphal Singh, the SHO of Kasna police station.

The SHO further added that the driver must have dozed off for a second which resulted into the collision. “The driver said he did not remember how the accident occurred, so we are presuming that he must have dozed off while driving and due to the impact, Sunny, who was sleeping at the back seat, fell out of the vehicle when it overturned which resulted in his death,” said Komal Kumar, sub-inspector of Dasna police station.
