More than six million people in 2018 visited Pulaski County, spending almost $2 billion in terms of total travel expenditures, which includes lodging, eating out, transportation and several other expenses.

Back in 2008, 5.48 million tourists visited Pulaski County.

The rise in tourist numbers has resulted in the development of over 13,000 jobs in the travel sector, according to the report.

Visitors come from all over the state, country and worldwide.

Mitchell Devine of Wisconsin has been on the road from the beginning of this year.

He’s in Little Rock for a professional riding event organized at the Verizon Arena this weekend.

“A lot of different than Wisconsin. It’s a lot warmer. We have about four feet of snow and you guys don’t have so that’s nice,” Devine said.

Aside from wrangling bulls, Devine and crew have been experimenting with their taste buds as well.

“We went to dinner out last night, going to lunch right now and then we’re going to go to a couple different places, hopefully while we’re here, enjoy the local food, see if it’s any good,” Devine said.

Gretchen Hall, president and CEO of the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, explained that the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum and Central High School carry on serving as popular destinations for those coming from out-of-town.
