BENGALURU: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, after being caught in the controversy of trying to politicise the on-going conflict between India and Pakistan, on Friday used the “patriotism” of IAF wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman and the IAF assault on Pakistani soil to boost the morale of the party workers from six Lok Sabha constituencies of Bengaluru, Kolar and Tumakuru.

Speaking at the Shakthi Kendra pramukhs gearing up for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Yeddyurappa said: “The assault of the IAF of Jaish terror camps inside Pakistan and the subsequent effort of the country’s air force in thwarting the PAF trying to attack Indian military installations has shaken the neighbouring country and for the first time in 40 years such an assertive action has been taken by the armed forces, who have been given a free hand under PM Narendra Modi. Modi’s strategy against the neighbouring country has forced Pakistan to stand alone in the international community and exposed their dual tone on terror.”

Earlier, he lauded WG CDR Varthaman’s action of trying to swallow the papers which he was carrying before being arrested by the Pakistan army as an act of patriotism and said his release was due to the warning by the PM to Pakistan that a befitting lesson will be given to the latter.

“His action is laudable. Having ejected with a parachute and having swallowed the papers he was carrying is an act of a brave and patriotic Indian that has been appreciated by the entire world. The IAF pilot release is being released by Pakistan on account of the warning given to that country by the PM that a befitting lesson will be taught to Pakistan. As soon as this message was sent, the pilot release has been facilitated,” he said.

Yeddyurappa said the only way to ensure that Modi’s dream of a strong India is achieved is by winning 22 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka to add the numbers and cross the 300 mark in the Parliament.
