Saudi authorities said Friday they are preparing to place a group of detained women’s rights activists on trial despite months of international pressure to release them.
The decision to try the activists suggests an intensification of a political crackdown overseen by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the kingdom’s de facto ruler, who has come under global scrutiny following the murder of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in October.
