Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Forest Department headquarters to be built in Velachery at a cost of ₹30 crore.
According to an official release, the headquarters was functioning from Panagal Maligai in Saidapet. The Chief Minister had announced in the Assembly that a new building at 1.10 lakh sq. ft would be built. To help the officials protect the forests effectively, he also presented seven jeeps to the department out of the 125 which he had promised.
On Thursday, he inaugurated an integrated drinking water scheme at a cost of ₹105 crore to benefit Sirkazhi, Kollidam, Chembanarkoil and Mayiladuthurai unions.
He also inaugurated drinking water improvement works taken up at a cost of ₹21 crore at Musiri town panchayat, ₹10 crore at Kotagiri in the Nilgiris and ₹68 crore at Theni-Allinagaram municipality. In total, he launched 50 projects valued at ₹789 crore in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, the release said. He also launched the website www.tnhouse.tn.gov.in.
The government organised a guidance meeting for 403 MSMEs that had signed MoUs during the Global Investors’ Meet early this year.

As many as 12,360 MSMEs had agreed to invest ₹32,205 crore in the next two years.
Till now, 366 industries have started production with an investment of ₹721 crore giving employment to 4,863 persons.
Eleven MSME entrepreneurs who had invested during the 2015 Global Investors Meet and who have begun operations were given capital subsidy of ₹212 lakh, the release added.
