
Samsung recently unveiled its first foldable smartphone alongside the new Samsung Galaxy S10 series launch at Unpacked 2019. The Galaxy Fold is one of the costliest smartphones that the company has ever released at $1,980 (approximately Rs 1,41,000). The device will go on sale in April and it seems as if Samsung will not be making the device readily available to consumers.
Samsung UK’s director of product, services, and commercial strategy, Kate Beaumont, told The Verge, that the company will only make a limited number of the Galaxy Fold available in the market targetting the most elite. She also stated that the company will be hosting an event to divulge on its retail plans and to give the media a closer look at the device.
The device won’t be made available readily at all Samsung distributors, instead, it will only be available at select stores where the “crème de la crème” shop at.
During the interview, she also stated that this is a super premium device and the company cares a lot about how the device will be going to the market. Samsung will be providing the customers of the Galaxy Fold with a concierge-like service and experience.
The phone will not be displayed on the store stands but instead according to Beaumont will be a very personal experience for the consumers. The company will even take intensive aftercare of the consumers providing concierge-like services to them.
Samsung Galaxy Fold will be made available in a 4G LTE variant and a 5G variant and will be sold in select markets only. The device will be made available in four colour options including Green, Blue, Silver, and Black.
