Jaipur youth arrested for derogatory comments on wing commander Abhinandan

JAIPUR: The city police on Thursday arrested a 28-year-old youth in connection with a complaint alleging that he posted objectionable remarks about Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who is currently held captive by Pakistan. Jhotwara SHO, Suresh Sakhla told TOI that one Tauseef Azhar, had posted a comment on a social media website following which some people filed a complaint. “We have arrested him and further investigation is currently underway,” he said, adding that the police are corroborating the allegations against Tauseef.


Some locals even went to the police station and staged protest outside, demanding quick action against Azhar. The sources in the city police, however, informed TOI that a probe is underway to identify if he indeed had made the objectionable remarks about the IAF official.


“We have seized his laptop and taking help of forensic and cyber experts for the investigation to confirm if allegations are true indeed,” an official said. The officials said that Azhar is works in some digital marketing business.


The sources informed TOI that Tauseef was flanked by the police in order to ensure his safety as people outside was protesting against his comments. The officials informed TOI that an FIR was registered at the police station.
