There is, however, no official word on Prajwal contesting Lok Sabha election

Bhavani Revanna, Hassan Zilla Panchayat member and wife of Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna, has begun campaigning for her son, Prajwal Revanna, who is expected to be fielded as the JD(S) candidate in the Lok Sabha polls.

At a private programme organised by the Hassan unit of Lions Club here on Thursday, she appealed to the gathering to support her son in the elections.

Ms. Bhavani Revanna said her son had the blessings of his grandfather H.D. Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister.

“Mr. Gowda suggested his name for the candidature after taking the opinion of the public in Hassan constituency. My son has not entered politics without any experience. He has learnt the nuances of politics from his grandfather, father, and uncle. He has won the hearts of all seniors in the party,” she said.

Ms. Bhavani Revanna also said she had begun campaigning for her son as it would be difficult for him to cover the entire constituency alone.

Mr. Gowda, who was in Hassan on Thursday morning, told reporters he had not taken a decision on contesting the Lok Sabha elections yet.

Wants Gowda to contest

At a programme in Kadur on the same day, Mr. Prajwal Revanna told party workers that his personal wish was to see Mr. Deve Gowda contest for the Hassan seat yet again. “I have never said I will be the candidate. I wish Mr. Deve Gowda contests again and we campaign hard to ensure his win with a margin of 5 lakh votes,” he said.
