Several inches of snow accumulation are expected Friday night and Saturday morning, with the greatest accumulation across the Boston area. The snow may mix with rain and sleet along the immediate coast.

Three to six inches is likely in Boston and southeastern Massachusetts, where the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and puts the chances of more than 8 inches of snow at 1 in 4.

A stronger storm late Sunday will bring the potential for significant snow north and west of Route 95. Snow may max with sleet or change to rain along the coast.

After Wednesday night's storm, Boston has had 14 inches of snow this winter, less than half of the average total.
