Eleven new swine flu cases in city

Surat: Eleven fresh cases of swine flu were detected in the city on Friday. This has taken the total number of swine flu cases in the city in January this year to 130, including one death.
Health officials of Surat Municipal Corporation have issued notice to Sri Sai Hospital in City Light for negligence in providing treatment to a swine flu patient. They also warned six hospitals in Katargam and Varachha municipal zones, asking them to strictly adhere to government guidelines on swine flu. The hospitals warned were Shivam Hospital, Prannath Hospital, PP Maniya Children Hospital, Shri Hari Children Hospital, Yogi Children Hospital and Bhalani Hospital.
SMC health department has also started a house to house survey work to look for swine flu patients. On Friday, 82,989 homes covering 4,14,895 people were surveyed. In all 492 patients suffering from cold, cough and fever were found. Of these, 399 people were given medicines and 93 sent to health centres for treatment.
The 11 people, who tested positive for swine flu, include a 52-year-old man from Vesu, a 56-year-old woman from Shahpur, a 58-year-old man from Mota Varachha, a 23-year-old man from Kapodra, a 49-year-old woman from Varachha, a 51-year-old woman from Puna Gam, a 50-year-old woman from Limbayat, a 50 -year-old man from Katargam, a 47-year-old man from Amroli Road, a 58-year-old man from Utran and a 60-year-old man from Dabholi.
At least, 43 patients are still receiving treatment for swine flu in different hospitals of the city. The condition of 32 patients is stated to be stable. Six swine flu patients are on ventilators and five on oxygen support.
