Students find new SSC examination pattern easy

Pune: Smiling faces and happy discussions would describe the students of Std X leaving the examination halls on Friday, the first day of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examinations with the new pattern and syllabus.

The SSC examination began in the State on Friday with first language papers except for English medium school students. While this is for the first time that the students will be solving the ‘action sheets’ instead of question papers, based on the revised syllabus, the students found the first paper to be quiet easy, and also welcomed the change.

“Any child with a good sense of general knowledge and understanding was able to fare well in the examination on the first day,” Avinash Takawale, Principal, Poona Night High School and Junior College said.

He added, “My students told me that they enjoyed taking the examination, because of the new pattern which was subjective in nature and took their opinions into account. They also welcomed the new pattern. If the paper was so easy for the students of night school, who work and study, I am sure the regular students too must have found it very easy.”

As Kaveri Dahibhate, a resident of Gokhale Nagar, walked out of her examination centre at MES Sou Vimlabai Garware High School, Junior College, Deccan, she said, “The question paper had a lot of questions that required reasoning and knowledge. We have practised a lot so it was very easy for us to do, although I feel that it was little time consuming.”

For Kothrud-based Ritesh Dhumal too, it was the tremendous solving of practice papers which helped him deal with the examination successfully. “As we were going to solve the action-sheets for the first time, we had practised a lot. The paper was very easy, and I am happy about the way I have solved it,” Ritesh told Sakal Times at MAEER’s MIT School, Kothrud.

While most of the students said the paper was easy, some found it quite lengthy, and wished they had more time to finish better.

Speaking about the reactions from her students, Darshana Korke, Principal, Ahilyadevi High School for Girls, Shaniwar Peth said, “Students were a little tense about the paper since the syllabus as well as the paper pattern were new this time. However, the lower difficulty level of the first paper has relieved them a bit. Also, after appearing for the first paper, they are ready for the whole examination now. The SSC examination will continue till March 22.”
