Cops arrest 2 with banned drugs worth Rs 8 lakh in Sirsa

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police have seized 70,200 banned medicines, which are worth almost Rs 8 lakh in the international market, and 160gm opium in Sirsa. Police have also arrested the two who were in possession of the prohibited drugs.
A spokesperson of police department said that on a tip-off, a team of crime investigation agency (CIA) had put barricades near Ding Mor in Sirsa and stopped a car coming from Fatehabad. When searched, 70,200 tablets of Tramadol, a prohibited drug, were recovered from the vehicle.
The accused was identified as Amandeep, a resident of Ding Mandi. Initial inquiry revealed that these intoxicant tablets were to be supplied in Ding, Sirsa and Baragudha areas. The accused would be taken on remand by producing in the court so that involvement of others could be unearthed.
In another incident, the CIA team had arrested a person carrying 160gm opium from Sirsa bus stand area. The arrested accused was identified as Sujeet Kumar, a resident of Gaya in Bihar. The police are trying to find out the name of suppliers from the accused.
Cases under NDPS Act have been registered against the two.
