Kim Kardashian West's makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic has revealed his go-to trick for concealing blemishes and flaws on the skin, while still maintaining a totally natural-looking complexion: 'Micro-concealing'.
The 35-year-old, who has been working as close friend Kim's makeup artist since 2008, has helped the reality star to popularize all kinds of beauty trends, from contouring to baking — but now Mario says there is a new genius technique set to take the world by storm.
'Micro-concealing is a technique used to precisely conceal blemishes or pigmentation using a small amount of product and a brush,' he told DailyMail.com.

He continued: 'With a thin makeup brush place the product gently into small dots throughout the face, exactly where you need coverage.'
The next step in the process is for the applicant to 'feather' the concealer out over the area with as little pressure as possible from the brush.

This will help blend the product with the skin.
'From there you can pat the product softly with your fingers to set,' Mario said.
When opting to do 'micro-concealing' for small spots or blemishes on the face, Mario advises paying close attention to the color of the product and how it matches with the skin.
'For this to blend correctly color matching is so important,' he said.
Currently, Mario's favorite products to use for color matching include No7 Match Made Foundation Drops ($15) and Laura Mercier Lumiere Foundation ($48) because of the shade-range options to best match to the skin.
Finding the exact shade to match the skin is no easy feat, Mario admitted while speaking to Byrdie, and he recommended focusing on the light source when analyzing the color.
'Light can be deceiving,' he told the publication.

'My advice is to get as close to a natural light source as possible. Remember, it's rare that your skin will match one shade perfectly, so it's important to mix and customize.'
He then explained how a big mistake people often make with concealing is when they are 'blending or setting their under-eye concealer.'
'Start with a flat brush and dab product under your eye (and any other blemishes),' Mario explained.
'Then, using a damp sponge, start to blend the concealer under the eye and towards the outer corner,' he continued.
'To avoid any creasing, be sure to set the concealer with loose setting powder right after blending with the sponge—this helps to keep the concealer from settling into fine lines.'
Ultimately, the key to micro-concealing, Mario stated, was starting with a good skincare routine and picking products that are 'buildable'.
'If your skin is glowing and dewy, that will radiant through your makeup,' he said. 'Start by using a small amount of product to avoid a heavy application—that may lead to a caked finish.'
Last year, Mario launched a makeup collaboration with Kim and KKW Beauty after years of working together and doing her makeup. He also joined the Master Class to teach others about makeup where he will often use Kim as his model.
