Odisha: Two cops killed, 17 injured as truck rams police van

BHUBANESWAR: In a tragic incident, two Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) personnel were killed and 17 others injured when an over-speeding truck rammed into a police van near Belpahar on NH-49 of Jharsuguda district earlier this morning.
The deceased jawans were identified as S Panth and Prasanth Behera.
The incident took place near Sukhabandh area near Brajrajnagar. The OSAP team was headed towards chief minister's programme to be held at Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC), Banharpalli. CM is scheduled to inaugurate the OPGC 3rd and 4th units there.
CM Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief over the death of two jawans and announced ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of the kin along with government job. He conveyed sympathy to the bereaved families while wishing speedy recovery of injured jawans and ordered free treatment for them.
