The team from De Paul School, Ukkunagaram, comprising A. Aditya and M. Nithil Kavin, and the team from Akshara School, Kakinada, Yash Gowda and Atchuta Ram, won The Hindu Young World Quiz, in the seniors and juniors categories respectively, here on Thursday.

About 118 from 59 teams in the junior section and 244 from 122 teams in the seniors took part in the quiz that was held at the auditorium in Prema Samajam. The winners took home cycles, merit certificates, trophies and goodies from the Eveready and gift vouchers from the KLM Shopping Mall.

In the seniors section, the second and third prizes were bagged by TKSS Ashok and N. Devi Sri Prasad of Aditya Talent School, Kakinada; and K. Sri Rama Srikar and Ganesh Abhiram of De Paul School, Ukkunagaram, respectively.

In the Junior section, the second spot was taken by Subhranshu Das and Bharathi Venkat of Sri Prakash School, Payakraopeta; and the third place by Ch. John Joel and Jubaraj of De Paul School, Ukkunagaram.

Final round

After a gruelling preliminary round, six teams qualified for the final round in both the sections.

This was the 19th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz, and about 42 schools from Visakhapatnam city, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari district participated in the event.

The event was sponsored by State Bank of India (SBI), powered by Eveready Industries India Limited, the knowledge partner was Arrow Publications and KLM Fashion Mall were the regional sponsors.

While Foodex was the snack partner, Hotel Green Park was the hospitality partner.

The other teams that qualified in the junior section for the finals were from De Paul School, Chaitanya Public School and Sri Prakash Seethammadhara.

In the seniors section, the other teams that qualified for the final rounds were from Aditya Talent School- Kakinanda, Silver Oaks International School and Sanskruthi Global School, Parawada.
