A 54-year-old woman was killed and her husband injured in Kodambakkam on Thursday when an unknown vehicle rammed the motorcycle they were riding and sped away.

The police identified the victim as Meena, 54, who was riding pillion with her husband Kanagaraj. The couple were living in Kodambakkam and Kanagaraj ran a clinic there.

While on Dr. Ambedkar Road, Power House, an unknown vehicle hit their motorcycle. Passersby and other motorists rushed the victims to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. People also briefly protested on the arterial road condemning the police for failing to take quick action.

Meena was declared brought dead and Kanagaraj has been admitted to a private hospital. Further investigation is on.
