Star finisher M.S. Dhoni said the Indian team was on the right path in its preparations for the World Cup.
“It is a long and demanding schedule and all the players are up for the challenges ahead — gamewise and physically. In fact, I must say this Indian team is one of the fittest across all sport,” said Dhoni at a promotional event of the specially designed Nike gear here on Friday.
“Definitely, the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup triumphs mean a lot. What impresses me most about this team is the consistency, about which I am really proud of,” he said.
“My message to kids is to chase excellence to earn the right to wear this jersey. There is a lot of pride attached and it is not something one gets with one good performance in a season,” Kohli said.
India women’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur said the team had been doing well and the goal was to win the the next World Cup. Jemimah Rodrigues, Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw were also present.
