PATNA: The March 3 Sankalp Rally of the three Bihar NDA partners is purported to repose full faith and confidence in PM Narendra Modi for handling the post-Pulwama crisis, which culminated in India’s “non-military” air strikes on Balakot in Pakistan to demolish the terror, state presidents of the parties said on Friday.
Addressing a joint press conference on the rally to be addressed by PM Modi, CM Nitish Kumar and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and others, JD(U) state chief Bashishtha Narayan Singh, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Pashupati Kumar Paras and Bihar BJP president Nityanand Rai said a “sea of humanity” would participate in the rally, touted to be bigger than the biggest of all the rallies held at the historic Gandhi Maidan here till now.
Singh said the NDA partners have made arrangements for the participants at 14 places in Patna, while the MLAs, MLCs and MPs of BJP, JD(U) and LJP have made their own separate arrangements for their people. The participants would start turning up for the rally from Saturday itself and it would be “hujoom of people” walking on the roads to Gandhi Maidan on Sunday, Singh said.
Explaining the purpose of the rally, state BJP chief Rai said, “The sea of humanity would be present at the rally to register their blessings to PM Modi for effective handling of the post-Pulwama crisis that the country faced.”
It would also be an occasion to make a collective declaration to “end terrorism, work for the country’s development so that it joins the league of three biggest economies in the world under the leadership of PM Modi, Rai said.
He said the “Sankalp Rally should not be deemed as an election rally and it is not meant to blow the poll bugle” for the upcoming parliamentary elections. “Instead, it is aimed at declaring that ‘Bharat ki mitti se aatankvaad ko samaapt kar denge’ (we shall permanently eliminate terrorism from the Indian mainland) and to also repose faith in the policies pursued by PM Modi,” he said.
When the decision to hold the Sankalp Rally was announced two months ago, it was meant to be ‘hisaab lo, hisaab do rally’ (to give accounts of work done by PM Modi and to also ask the opposition to declare what they have done), Rai said, adding that the Pulwama terror attack altered the situation in the country completely.
“The centralized arrangements by the NDA has been made at 14 places, each with the holding capacity of around 10,000 people,” BJP functionary Nitish Mishra said.
BJP state vice-president Dewesh Kumar was also present at the press meet.
