Nagpur: Swami Vivekananda always espoused the cause of teaching science with scientific temper based on ascetic spirit as he wanted to make India a great country. For this, he stressed the need for uplift of people through the synthesis of science and spirituality, said thinker Sarvesh Fadnavis on Thursday.
Vivekananda’s life was an amalgamation of virtue, greatness and nobility. Though he experienced ancient truths through meditation and contemplation, he possessed a western scientific approach. For bridging the gap between science and spirituality, the great visionary took a holistic approach on orientalist perspective, said Fadnavis.

He was delivering a lecture on ‘Vidnyananishth Vivekananda’ at the library of Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh (VSS). The lecture was organized to mark National Science Day.

Fadnavis said, “It was felt that the philosophy of the swami and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian youth. His messages broke through the shackles of the societal group and spoke of a language of universal brotherhood. The essence of his messages was simple yet powerful and easily appealed to the youngsters.”

He urged the people to take inspiration from Vivekananda’s life and his scientific perspective to understand the centuries-old science-oriented thoughts and undertake the path of progress. He concluded his speech with the quote of Vivekananda — “Arise! Awake! And stop not until the goal is reached.”

Chief executive officer of Professor Rajendra Singh Science Exploratory Madhavi Kavishwar applauded Fadnavis and said his connect with the audience was commendable. She encouraged him to engage in more such events in future.

Coordinator of VSS library Dilip Mhaisalkar presented a book to Fadnavis as a token of appreciation.
