Most people know by now that using a mobile phone while driving a motor vehicle is a serious offence in Australia.

Not only does it endanger everyone on the road, including the driver, it incurs a $337 fine and three demerit points.

By that didn't stop one obsessed Married At First Sight fan, who was caught red-handed watching the reality program in their car by NSW Police this week.

NSW Police posted a picture of the offending incident on Facebook on Friday, which clearly shows the driver watching the Channel Nine program in their vehicle.

Police captioned the picture: 'Highway Patrol officers were left shaking their heads this week after observing a person watching Married At First Sight on their phone while driving along the M1 near Sydney.

'The driver was issued with a $337 fine and 3 demerit points (driving with TV/VDU image visible).'

Face off: The picture on the mobile phone appeared to be a scene from Wednesday night's episode of MAFS, showing Cyrell Paule (right) and Martha Kalifatidis (left) having a private conversation at a dinner party.

It was a far more civilised picture than that seen on Tuesday's episode of the reality TV show.

Viewers were left shocked by the explosive argument between the two 'brides', which culminated in Cyrell, 29, attacking Martha, 30, in a violent outburst.

Producers were forced to step in and drag Cyrell from Martha, 30, but found themselves in the firing line as she then threw a large ceramic fruit bowl at them.

A furious Cyrell then packed her bags and fled the show while telling her 'husband' Nic Jovanovic to 'get the f*** away from me'.

On Wednesday night's episode, however, Cyrell and Martha held 'peace talks' about the incident and tried to patch things up with each other.
