PUDUCHERRY: Two unidentified men murdered a 27-year-old woman at Maducarai on the outskirts of Puducherry town on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as R Ganga, 27, wife of Rajasekar, a painter by profession.

Police said the woman left home at 5am to buy milk from a nearby shop while her husband and two children were sleeping.

She was returning home when two men approached her and struck a conversation with her. The two attacked her with sharp weapons and slit her throat. They fled the scene after committing the crime.

A passerby noticed the woman lying in a pool of blood and alerted Maducarai police. A police team reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.

Initial inquiries revealed that Rajasekar and Ganga hailed from different communities and entered wedlock after a love affair. However, differences in opinion cropped up between the two. The couple used to fight frequently over trivial issues. They had even planned to apply for divorce, said police.
